RULES
By entering the competition, Entrants:
(i) Warrant to APA|NY that they have created and own the work submitted
(including all elements of the work) and that nothing within any work
has been copied or added from another person’s work.
(ii) Warrant that the whole copyright and any other form of intellectual
property right in the work is vested in them.
(iii) Warrant that they have not in any way assigned, licensed, disposed
of, or otherwise encumbered any of their rights which allow them to deal
freely with the work and the copyright therein.
(iv) Warrant that they have obtained model releases from any persons
featured in their submitted photographs allowing one time publication
in a photo industry magazine.
(v) Agree that their work may be exhibited at Calumet Photographic in
NYC and hosted through the APA|NY website.
(vi) Agree that prints produced for the gallery show may be offered for
sale throughout the duration of the show. The entrant must set the price
for the sale, and if sold, the proceeds will be split 50-50 between the
photographer and Exposures.
(vii) Agree that APA/NY may reproduce and may license the reproduction
of the winners of the competition to be featured in a magazine without
further compensation. This is a one-time use for publication only to
identify and allow for exposure of the photographer's work.
(viii)Agree that winning images may be used in promotion for future APA|NY
photo contests.
(viii) Acknowledge that APA|NY relies fully upon the warranties and license
given by Entrants when submitting their entries for consideration to
the Tell Us a Story APA|NY photo exhibition. Entrants indemnify and hold
APA|NY harmless from any claims, actions, proceedings costs and expenses
arising as a result of any allegation that the relevant Entrant did not
own or is not wholly entitled and authorized to allow publication and
reproduction of the work by APA|NY.
The decision of the jurors of the contest are final and no discussion
or correspondence can be entered into on their decision. The judging
will be a blind process, no names attached to the work. Photographers
names will only be disclosed to the jurors after the judging process
has been completed.
APA|NY, the sponsors or the venue showing the exhibition, Calumet Photographic,
shall not be liable for any loss of, or damage to, any of the entries.
Final Deadline for entries Friday February 29th
2008 (midnight EST). This is a final deadline with no flexibility,
as judging will take place on March 2nd 2008. Judging has
been moved to Wednesday March 5th, and as a result, the submission
deadline has been extended to Monday March 3rd, midnight EST.
Entry
fees can not be refunded, once submitted. Entrants selected for exhibition
are responsible for delivering a printable file of the work to APA|NY
by March 10th 2008. If the file sent in for printing is deemed unacceptable
for reproduction, the work will not hang in the show.
APA|NY will send notification of success to Entrants who are selected
to be exhibited between March 3rd and 10th 2008. The Gala Opening and
Exposures Benefit will be held on Tuesday March 18th at Calumet Photographic,
and the winning work (first place and juror’s selection) will remain
up at Calumet through March 22nd 2008.
Unsold work can be picked up from the APA|NY office after the event,
at specified hours, posted on our website. Shipping arrangements can
be made at the entrants expense. Work will be rolled in a tube for easy
handling.
Prizes will be awarded by participating sponsors, and APA|NY does not
accept responsibility or warrant any product being delivered by a sponsor.
